COVID-19

Dear Patients and Parents,

As members of your local community, we care deeply about the health and well being of our patients, families and staff members. The Coronavirus and the changing pandemic present a unique set of challenges for dental care providers like Whitney Orthodontics. We wanted to let you know that we are taking additional safety precautions to reduce the risk of transmission to all. We will not be closing our office unless ordered to do so by the Federal, State or local government. We realize that some of these health precautions may cause a temporary inconvenience, but please be assured your health and the health of other community members is our priority.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please call the office during regular business hours. If you would like to delay your appointment, we completely understand and ask that you call us to reschedule. Please consider rescheduling also if you fall into a high risk group (immunocompromised, have heart disease, lung disease, are over the age of 60, have diabetes, or have travelled outside the US in the past 2 weeks).

  1. Due to the closure of schools, parents will be challenged with childcare limitations. At Whitney Orthodontics we have encouraged an open environment and have always welcomed siblings, friends, and relatives. Starting next week, we will be making changes and essentially closing our reception area. No non-patient friends or family should enter the office except for the accompanying parent. If you have multiple children, please drop the patient off and wait in the car until the appointment is finished. We can call and update you on the progress of treatment by request.
  2. Only scheduled patients will be allowed back in the treatment area unless there are specific issues, such as a childs young age, or behavior.
  3. Our patient sign in computer will be disconnected. Please verbally sign in with the front desk upon your arrival. We have removed the magazines, games, coffee machine and (most sadly) the ice cream station. But it will be back!!

We are trying to minimize those procedures that cause excess aerosol (saliva being sprayed in the air). This may include removing braces, repositioning brackets etc. We will be able to modify most appointments to progress through treatment, and we understand that this may delay some patients braces or Aligners for a few weeks. But again the big picture is to try to minimize the spread of the Coronavirus.

Thank you for your understanding in this unprecedented time. Know that we are just as concerned about our patients well being as we are our own families!

Sincerely,

Dr Elaine Whitney, Dr Jim Whitney, Dr Meg Crabtree and Dr Tricia Robertson
